An artist with a dream and a purpose
How did the dream become reality?
Curtis 'Spita' Alexander is an American recording artist with Grenadian ancestry from Brooklyn, New York, USA. He was born on May 13th, 1986.
SPITA has a very special connection to the Caribbean and specifically the island of Grenada where his parents and many others abruptly migrated in the late 1970s due to political tension.
He grew up in South Flatbush area of Brooklyn during the 90's which became the melting pot for many other nationalities.
SPITA was exposed to various types of culture as an adolescent which played a major role in his overall musical interest.
This interest would motivate SPITA to morph his passion into something more practical than just a hobby.
His musical background consisted of participating in the chorus of his elementary school Floyd Bennett P.S. 203. Upon arriving into middle school (Roy H. Mann JHS 1997) SPITA became a member of the school band and played the trumpet as his instrument of choice.
By High School (Sheepshead Bay HS 2000) SPITA took interest in making mixtapes and DJ-ing but was also fascinated with writing poems and music to share amongst classmates and friends around the city.
The development of the internet and social media sites like MYSPACE would be very beneficial to SPITA as he was able to reach a larger platform and meet other artists and producers in the industry.
Throughout the years SPITA has created a number of unreleased musical works. One of his more recent goals has been to modernize and remaster some of the older projects and continue to add new material into his catalogue.
SPITA's music becoming available to the public has been a dream come true and a victory for him. This art is truly his life passion.
In 2024 SPITA promises to release many new songs and collaborations.
